Designing like Apple

By Geoff Muskett

I’m currently working on an awesome new project at Sea, can’t reveal anything yet, but it’s going to be special. We’re approaching it from the perspective of Apple, where user experience is paramount. Apple products that is, not their website.

This means using the latest techniques; SVG graphics; slick CSS3 transitions and animations, basically all the stuff you can’t normally use – or have to provide heavy fallbacks for – because of old browsers.

Apple tend to support devices for about two years after they stop selling them new (from my own personal experience). Which forces people to stay up-to-date, meaning their experience of the product will always be first rate.

What this means for the project is dropping support for IE8 and below, and older Android operating systems. People will need a forward thinking browser for a forward thinking website.
